Professional People Watcher
When I originally went to write this post I anticipated focusing only on moments from the reception. Throughout wedding receptions, I watch friends and family of the couple celebrate, toast, laugh, and dance the night away. The night is completely unpredictable and carries the “anything can happen” feeling. I never know who is going to be the breakout star of the dance floor or who will be passing me a glow stick. I watch though, and obviously I take the pictures too.
When I went looking through my latest gallery to share the images that went with this idea, I found that my proclaimed title of “Professional People Watcher” takes place throughout the entire day. I know sometimes we (photographers) get consumed with photographing the things like buttoning up the dress or maybe the wedding party formals that we forget to look beyond what’s in front of us. Literally, turn around, and see what else is happening. As a “people watcher” I look at everyone. Not just the wedding couple.
Often times, people look back at their weddings as a “blur”. The day goes by fast, and they have their photos to look back on to see who danced together, who sat in which row at the ceremony, who clinked their glasses together at tables mixed with friends and family. I watch everyone, document everything I can, and hope that my images bring back the feelings and memories that took place.
My original post consisted of these images below. I couldn’t take them out because it shows how the night was spent. Celebrations and laughter filled the air. Here are the photos.
